2007 Tri-County Lieutenant Governor’s Medal Presentations
On Thursday, May 24, 2007, the Honorable Mayann E. Francis, Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, was at Barrington Municipal High School to present 15 deserving students with the prestigious Lieutenant Governor’s Medal. The Lieutenant Governor’s Medal is presented to one male and one female grade 11 student, from each tri-county high school, who maintains a high academic standing and is dedicated to the betterment of school and community life.
The Tri-County Regional School Board congratulates all of the students who received this prestigious award. The Board recognizes their hard work & dedication to both their academics and community. “The drive and determination that these students exhibit will serve them well as future leaders in our region, our country, and the global village. I am very proud of them,” said Faye Haley, Tri-County Regional School Board Chairperson.
Lieutenant Governor’s Medal Recipients:
BARRINGTON MUNICIPAL HIGH SCHOOL
Kaitlyn Anne Harris: Kaitlyn is an in-school mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters, a representative for Student Council, and a member of the Special Events and anti-bullying committees, as well as the Youth Action Team. She is active in several sports such as soccer, basketball and track and field. Kaitlyn has won several awards for her athletic skills including Most Valuable Player on her soccer team and basketball team for two consecutive years. In her free time she enjoys horseback riding, swimming, and traveling.
John (Jack) Patrick O’Connor: Jack volunteers in his community as a coach for youth soccer and hockey. An excellent student, he has maintained a 90 plus average throughout his high school years. An All-Star Defenseman, he plays hockey for the school team and is proud to say that he has been a member of three provincial championship school and community hockey teams. Jack also plays on the school baseball, soccer and track and field teams, and is a member of the Youth Action Team. He enjoys automotive work and electronics as hobbies.
