The Cape Sable Historical Society was formed in 1937 by a group of concerned citizens. Their goals were to collect and preserve all documents, papers, and other objects of interest, which may serve to throw light upon and illustrate the history of Shelburne and Yarmouth Counties; preserve historical sites and land marks; promote the study of history of both counties. Today our goals are much the same.
The Cape Sable Historical is located next to the post office in Barrington. The Centre is open Wednesdays, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm during the winter, and daily 9:30 am to 5:30 pm during tourist season (June 15 - September 30).
